Making the Most of Your Vision Insurance Before 2016

As the year comes to a close, so do most Insurance plans and benefits. In most cases, these benefits do not roll over to the new year. Which means, if you don’t use them, you lose them!   That’s why it’s important to check with your insurance provider to determine if you have any unused benefits. One of the benefits that you should use (if you haven’t already) is your vision insurance. Getting a yearly routine eye exam is vital for maintaining exceptional eye health.

Here at My Eyelab, we value our customers and their eye health. That’s why we’ve compiled an informative guide on making the most of your vision insurance before the year ends.

First off, at My Eyelab we accept a wide range of vision insurance plans. Our eye health specialist are trained to not only help you choose your frames, but they are also knowledgeable in answering any questions regarding vision insurance benefits, what is covered by your vision insurance provider, and whether you will need to provide a co-pay or not.

Vision Insurance Coverage

When it comes to vision insurance, most plans will cover the following:

For contact lens wearers, getting coverage from your plan may require some added research with your insurance provider. If you don’t have much time to check, when you call to make your appointment we can check if your plan covers them or not!

Furthermore, some plans consider lens upgrades, coatings or add ons electives which may not be covered and will require an additional cost.

Maximizing Your Benefits

If you have an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) account, and a balance remains, that money could be used towards purchasing eyewear accessories. My Eyelab offers the following accessories:

  • Lens Cleaner Kit
  • Microfiber Cloths
  • Specialized Towelettes
  • Glasses Neck Strap

If you don’t find a need for the accessories we suggest spending the extra money on purchasing a backup pair (or two) of glasses. You could have a pair for the office and another one for your purse!
