How To Remove Scratches From Your Eyeglasses
At some point or another, everyone has put their glasses on and seen a faint line, and no matter how much you wipe your glasses the line never goes away. Until… you realize that it’s a scratch, and simply wiping your glasses will not do.
Here at My Eyelab we’ve prepared a guide on how to get rid of scratches on your lenses.
First off, you will need a couple of supplies that include:
- A Microfiber cloth
- Lint-free cloth
- Small bowl
- Eyeglass cleansing spray
- Baking Soda
- Car wax
The first step in ridding your glasses of a scratch is wiping away any dust or particles that may have accumulated on the lense with the microfiber cloth.
Using the microfiber cloth, spray both sides of the lenses with the eyeglass cleansing spray and polish both sides of the lenses.
Next, in the small bowl mix 1 – 2 tablespoons of the baking soda with 1 – 2 teaspoons of water. Mix until a paste like texture is formed. Add water or baking soda as needed to reach desired consistency.
Once the paste is made, apply it to both sides of the lenses. Then, using the microfiber cloth once again, wipe lenses with slight pressure and by using a circular motion.
Next, rinse the lenses under lukewarm water to remove the paste. Once the paste is removed, pat the lenses dry with the lint free cloth.
Last but not least, the car wax can be applied with the microfiber cloth to remove any other scratches.
It is important to use the microfiber cloth, since any other material can scratch the lens and worsen the problem.
